Me: Snorlax! Why are you such a lazy piece of **** all the ####### time?!
I’m sure at one point in time or another we’ve all felt like snorlax. Sometimes it’s hard to get up and get motivated. Especially when what you do all day is just eat and sleep; not unlike the lovable tub of lard above.
But I think i’ve figured out why Snorlax sleeps so much. You see when Snorlax was just a little Munchkin he would eat all the time, and eventually his tummy got full. So naturally he tried to sleep some of it off.
Problem was that he ate sooooo much that he ended up sleeping for 3 whole days! That’s a lot of down time! Have you ever slept for that long chances are that you haven’t.
However sleeping for long periods of time has a weird side effect, MORE SLEEP. That’s right sleeping causes more sleep. So why is this?
Turns out there is this funny little cycle that we go through called the Circadian Rhythm. If that sounds like a song or a dance to you, well you’re not far off. It’s the body’s sleep/wake cycle.
Too little sleep and we feel groggy, tired and irritable. Too much and the same thing occurs. That’s because when we fall out of beat with our Circadian Rhythm we don’t feel as awake or energized as we believe we should. The only way to avoid feeling tired is to sleep the perfect amount.
It’s also the reason why Snorlax needs a Pokéflute to wake up. Because the sound it makes aligns with Snorlax’s ‘RHYTHM’, without it, well let’s just say you’re going to have to wait a long time for him to get up.
