Some inserting information on major religions found around the world

Some of my views on religion.

Saint Wolfgang and the Devil

Now I am not a religious person by any means. But that is not to say that I didn’t use to be though. Growing up in the state of Utah, ( which for all of you who are concerned, people who live in Utah are not all married to our sisters or brothers and we do not have multiple wives.) were the predominating religion is LDS. Or for the more politically correct out there, The Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints.

For as long as I can remember from the time I was little, until about the time I turned 17, I was fairly active in church goings and church activities. I would go to church every Sunday, attend meetings, and go to some after church activities, Including Boy Scouts and being apart of Young Men’s activities. And while yes some of these things were fun and entertaining. For me it gradually lost its charm bit by bit, and I had no idea as to why.

So I stopped going to church, I still kept in contact with people who did. The reason I did this is because while I knew that for whatever reason Gospel and church goings weren’t for me, I never judged other people for Wanting to go to church. I was never hateful or spiteful towards church. The people who I met there were always nice and kind to me. Just honest people doing what They Believe is right. How can I possibly get angry over that? which then begs the question, WHAT HAPPENED?

Well the easiest way to say it is that my perceptions on reality changed. And even though I was young, by consciously making the decision to leave the church, I eventually came to the realization that I DO NOT BELIEVE IN SIN! I do not believe in the idea, nor do i believe in the premise that sin exists. This is one of the most defining factors about myself that I can share.

One of the most predominating factors that separates western and eastern religions is the concepts of the holy and unholy. Either something is sacred or something is an abomination in the eyes of god. And these people who have such a strong faith in these religions are almost willing to go to any extent or extreme to make sure that there god is pleased with them. Take the Crusades for example, also refereed to as the Holy Wars. These people had so much faith in there religion and even in there god that they were willing to do whatever it was that was asked of them. Even if it meant going against there Own Doctrine. One of the reasons that this happened is because some of the people ‘fighting’ in these crusades were so afraid that they would go to hell for sinning. And being a sinner, especially in the renaissance time, was a title almost worse than anything we can imagine. To be a sinner not only meant that you were damned in this life, but also that you would be damned in the next. And nobody would want to have that happen to them.

The interesting thing about all of this is that, especially in christian based religions is that once you take away the aspect of sin, things start to fall apart bit by bit. The reason for this is, especially if not exclusively in christian based religions. Is that, Sin whether people want to admit it or not, is a fundamental corner stone in all christian based religions. Take away the aspect of sin and your really not left with too much. The break away even goes so far as to challenge the very existence and concept of Heaven and Hell. And that is one of the main reasons that Christian based religions want you to be scared and afraid of sin. Because they know that through sin, they can control you.

But believe it or not, Sin is actually just one tool used by religions to keep there followers in check, there are many others out there and it is my ambition to bring them to light. So we can continue to grow as individuals and to grow as people.
